Policy Administration Supervisor

DEPARTMENT: Underwriting
REPORTS TO: Chief Underwriting Officer
STATUS: Exempt
HOURS: Monday-Friday 8a.m.-5p.m.

Job Summary:
The Policy Administration Supervisor handles and manages the underwriting support function including policy issuance, tracking, and reporting, policy changes, cancellations, reinstatements, and all other transactional processing assigned. This position includes handling all incoming correspondence from agents, bureaus and NCCI. The position also includes managing the Underwriting call queue and acts as fraud liaison on behalf of the Underwriting department.

Requirements of the position include:
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in insurance, finance, or business management
  • Minimum Experience: 1+ years of commercial insurance experience.
  • Preferred Experience: 3+ years of commercial insurance experience in the worker’s compensation field
  • Management Experience: 1+ years (minimum) - 3+ years (preferred)

  • Proven knowledge of worker’s compensation underwriting or insurance company operations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all stakeholders including staff, agency personnel, etc.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

Essential Functions:
  • Actively lead and manage the underwriting support unit.
  • Work closely with agents to solve issues related to administration of policies
  • Handle internal audits of work for quality and timeliness
  • Provide training, structure, and guidance to support staff.
  • Actively participate in the annual formal review process.
  • Actively update policy and procedure for the Underwriting Support unit.
  • Monitor data, produce reports and ensure proper data reporting as assigned.
  • Act as fraud liaison for the Underwriting Department.
  • Handle OFAC.
  • Monitor and manage NCCI and Bureau items relating to the Underwriting function.
